We’d like to thank all the QCRG members who made this year’s Canal Fest parade exceptional. It was fun despite the heat wave and we’re elated to report that we placed second in the non-musical marching units category.
Our Mardi Gras-themed float was accompanied by around 25 skaters who handed out candy and necklaces to the hundreds of kids lining the parade route. One can only assume what won the judges over this year was our addition of choreography: we got down in unison to the funky hit “Apache” by the Sugarhill Gang.
