Do you have what it takes?

Think you have the grit and determination to participate in the full contact sport that is roller derby? The Queen City Roller Girls are looking for new athletes! Women interested in skating must be at least 18 years of age and will begin their roller derby career with the Queen’s Court 13-week Boot Camp.

Beginning on January 5, 2014, the Queen’s Court 13-week Boot Camp will teach you everything you need to know to pass the required Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) assessment. We’re going to teach you to skate, stop, hit, whip, fall, get up and do it all over again. We’re athletes and this is a full contact sport which requires time commitment and the willingness to work hard so you can play hard.

After you pass your assessments, you will become a full member of the Queen City Roller Girls. You can practice with the league, and as a member of the Queen’s Court you will take your game to the next level. The second section of the Queen’s Court training will include learning game play, strategy and other roller derby skills that are essential for becoming a member of one of the QCRG teams.

Practices for the Queen’s Court take place at the Rainbow Rink in North Tonawanda every Sunday night from 8:30-10:45 p.m.

For those interested in learning more about joining, come to one of our information sessions at the Rainbow Rink on Wednesday, November 20 or Wednesday, December 4. They will be held during the Open Skate session from 8 p.m.-10 p.m. The cost of getting into the session is $5. You’ll meet some QCRG skaters, get your questions answered and, most important, skate!

We’re also always looking for new referees and officials! Both guys and gals are welcome into the rewarding life of a Derby official! Attend our open information sessions for more information (referees need the same skating skills as players) and get in touch with our officials crew at herd@qcrg.net to get the process started!
