Bout Recap: Knockouts 305, Kats 56; Saucies 216, Dollies 172

NORTH TONAWANDA — It was all hands on deck as the Knockouts, Saucies, Dollies, and Kats took the track to see who would be competing for the QCRG Cup championship on June 7th.

In the first bout, the Alley Kats were on the prowl for an upset as they looked to avenge their 250-54 loss to the Nickel City Knockouts on April 5th but would run into the same set of problems in the second go around in the form of the Knockouts’ elite blocking corps. Through the first 9 jams the Knockouts jumped to a 80-14 lead – allowing the Kats lead jam status only once – setting the tone for the rest of the bout. The Knockouts defense especially stepped things up to start the second half, allowing only 6 points through the first 15 jams of the second half en route to a 305-56 victory and a berth in their 4th consecutive Cup Championship.

Librawlian led the Knockouts in points with 105, followed by Abercrombie & Fists and Toots McGee with 78 and 54 respectively. Ivana LeiHerOut, Midnyt Maniac, Bear Lee Legal, Maggie de Sade, and Lamb Chop contributed an additional 67 points between them.

The Kats were led in points by jammers Nova Cain with 22, Shank Ya Very Much with 18, and Evil-Lyn Cognito with 10. Karsmashian and La’Batt Bruise contributed an additional 6 points.

In the second bout, the Devil Dollies looked to flip the script from their 202 to 116 loss to the Suicidal Saucies at Hell on Wheels 8 on April 26th. Having several of their key skaters who were unavailable in April proved beneficial as the Dollies kept the game within reach throughout the game. A 19 point jam to end the first half from veteran skater Red Fox closed the gap to 105-81 going into the half, but the Saucies countered with 14 and 18 point jams of their own in the early goings of the second half, opening a 154-107 lead. The second half would also see the Dollies partially undone by penalties, seeing 26 trips to the box in the period compared to the Saucies 10. A late 25 point jam from Low-Hits Griffin would close the gap to 209 to 165 with minutes to go, but the heroics would be cut short as the Saucies secured a 216-172 victory and clinched their first trip to the QCRG Cup Championship since 2010.

Red Fox led all skaters in points for the bout with 72. Low-Hits Griffin contributed an additional 59 for the Dollies. Vanilla Creamz, Crown Victoria, Celery STALK-her, and Lip Service scored 39 between them.

For the Saucies, Missfire, Alley Oops, and Flame Throw-Her scored 61, 60, and 56 respectively. B’Kini Whacks chipped in an additional 39.

The Knockouts will take on the Saucies on June 7th for the QCRG Championship. When these teams last played in March, the Knockouts eked out a 154 to 141 victory after a coming back from a 76 point half-time deficit in their closest victory since losing the 2011 Championship. The Saucies look to secure their 5th QCRG Championship and first since 2010, while the Knockouts look for a three-peat. Tickets available online!
